Movin’ on up
Hey everyone it Kris Mizel. Just wanted to say congrats to the boys and girls teams on making state! Sound like you guys had alot of fun.
Now a little heads up on what im doing down here at ISU. About a month ago the jumpers started having their own jump-oriented practices every Tues. and Thurs.
We work on techniques and jumping strength. Today was the first time we did some actual jumps. Instead of a full 16-step approach for the triple jump, our coach had us doing 8 steps. So we were not all-out jumping, but we were pretty close. After my last jump I was feeling pretty good about how i did and my jumping coach, Tim Thompson, broke out the tape measure. I went about 43′ 4 inches, again off a half approach.
My coach said right now he could see me breaking 47′ easily.
I’m pretty pumped for my first meet on Dec. 6th, here in Redbird country. When i started here, my P.R. was 45′9 and the other triple jumpers were just above 47′. My coach said im pretty close to where they are now, so keep your fingers crossed for this first meet. I might just suprise some of you.
Your support would be amazing if you could make it down.
Hope everyone is well.
-Kris

Beacon News Article: 1A and 2A local recap
The Beacon News posted their State Meet recap this morning.
About the girls:
… Joining Sliepka on the All-State list was Yorkville senior Krysten Sebby. Sebby, who was part of a Foxes’ squad that finished 12th with 269 points, came home in 20th place in 18:26.
“I felt like I could have done better, but in the end I left everything out there and that’s all we could have done,” Sebby said. “I’m glad I made All-State because it’s a huge accomplishment to have.
“Our goal (as a team) was to make it down here and some of the girls ran personal bests, and we had fun.”
Alicyn Hester was 58th for the Foxes in 19:06, while Esther Bell placed 81st in 19:32.
About the boys:
… In the boys 2A race, Kaneland finished eighth with 220 points while Yorkville was 10th with 247. Dixon used three runners in the top 11 to score 94 points and just squeak past Belvidere North (98 points) for top honors.
… Jake Austin led the Yorkville contingent, placing 29th in 15:49 to just miss All-State by four places. Max Silwa was 48th in 15:59 and Mike Addison 74th in 16:16.
