Girls win fifth-straight State title

Monday, November 9 2015 - IHSA 2A Girls Cross Country State Meet


The YHS girls cross country team made history at Saturday’s IHSA Class 2A State Meet, winning their fifth-straight State title. The win ties Class 1A’s Winnebago for most consecutive State meet wins at five.

The Foxes were led by a third-place finish by junior Alexis Grandys in 17 minutes, 1 second. Junior Maddie Dearborn was 10th in 17:35, sophomore Alyssa Edwards was 13th in 17:38, and senior Summer Pierson was 15th in 17:42. All four earned All-State honors, with Grandys (‘14, ‘15)  and Pierson (‘12, ‘15) earning it for the second time in their careers. Freshman Nicole Greyer placed 32nd in 18:08, while Maggie Klemm was 41st in 18:14 and freshman Olivia Borowiak was 95th in 18:53.
