Girls 2nd, boys 17th at FttF

Sunday, September 10 2017 - Peoria First to the Finish Invitational

The Foxes cross country team traveled to Detweiller Park — home of the IHSA State Meet in November — for an early season test against the state's top teams.

In the girls race, the Foxes were able to put four runners in front of Naperville North's third runner, but the Huskies prevailed over YHS 83-109. There were 38 teams in the meet. Emily Eberhart led the Foxes with a 12th place finish in 17 minutes, 45.4 seconds, followed by Alyssa Edwards (18:00.5), Olivia Borowiak (18:01.1), Helena Kleronomos (18:04.6) finishing 17th-19th. Nicole Greyer (18:42.2) finished 43rd while still building up her endurance after an injury last track season to round out the scorers. Mady Klebenow (19:03.4) and Victoria Crawford (19:29.8) rounded out the top seven. The girls had a terrific split of :19 from 1-4, :56 1-5, and 1:44 1-7.

In the boys race, the Foxes finished 17th out of 47 teams. The boys were led by Zack Price in 57th place with a time of 15:45.1. Price was followed by Ben Summers (73rd, 15:53.6), Matt Cox (114th, 16:10.7), Alex Loos (118th, 16:14.0) and Ben Tholen (130th, 16:20.2) to round out the top five. Freshman Ivan Westcott (138th, 16:22.9) and senior Eric Nauman (168th, 16:39.7) rounded out the top seven. The boys had a :35 1-5 split, and :54 1-7.

The Foxes are back in action next weekend at the Minooka Flight Invitational at Channahon Community Park.
