Foxes open season with big wins

The Foxes opened the 2017 cross country season with big wins at the Yorkville Invitational at Hoover Forest Preserve in Yorkville.

The girls earned a perfect score of 15 by placing 1st - 5th overall, and had 8 in the top 11 finishers, and 9 in the top 20. Oswego East was second with 69 points, followed by Rosary's 70.

Olivia Borowiak was the meet champion, finishing in 18 minutes, 18.3 seconds. Alyssa Edwards (2nd, 18:41.5), Helena Kleronomos (3rd, 18:43.3), Emily Eberhart (4th, 18:50.2) and Victoria Crawford (5th, 18:59.8) were the scoring five for the Foxes. Mady Klebenow (8th, 19:23.4), Nicole Greyer (9th, 19:34.6), Sara Klemm (11th 19:43.7) and Sam Moreno (20th, 20:25.6) were in the top 20 our of the 140 runners.

The boys team cruised to a 19 point victory, thanks to meet champion Patrick Black's 15:58.0, setting a course record. Oswego East was second with 38 points, followed by Joliet West's 93.

Behind Black were 8 others in the top 20: Ben Summers (3rd, 16:25.7), Zack Price (4th, 16:35.1), Eric Nauman (5th, 16:40.5), Alex Loos (6th, 16:44.3), Corey Kramer (10th, 17:04.4), Ivan Westcott (11th, 17:12.5), Austin Hunter (18th, 17:31.0) and Mark Mattson (19th, 17:31.9). 

The Foxes take a break from meets until Sept. 9th at Detweiller Park in Peoria for the First to the Finish Invitational.
